Don’t Put Your Financial Plans on Vacation

Summer is upon us and that marks the beginning of some fun in the sun. But don’t let all of the vacations and sunshine deter you from your financial goals. It is imperative now more than ever that physicians resist the urge to put their financial plans on vacation and continue to make progress towards reaching their financial goals.

Here are a few tips to keep your financial goals a priority this summer:

  1. Physicians must continue to make sure their financial plans and strategies are going as expected. Check-in with your financial portfolio and make sure that your strategies are working for you. If they are not, now is the time to address the issues and make the necessary corrections.
  2. As much as we hate to admit it, we know that “time flies when we are having fun.” That means this summer season will be over before we know it. We will be heading into the fall and winter and heading towards the end of the year. The summer season represents the perfect time to begin to think about your financial goals for the second half of the year so you can end the year strong.
  3. “All work and no play makes for a dull physician.” Many physicians, like myself, forget to schedule time for fun. However, scheduling time to relax and have fun is necessary not just to avoid burnout, but also to be a well-rounded person. So, be sure to plan that vacation, just remember to stay on budget!

So while it is important to enjoy your summer vacation, it is equally as important to keep your finances healthy. The financial planning experts at Commonwealth of Atlanta specialize in working with physicians. To find out more, contact them at
